New Parenting Movie – A Tough Watch?

Yikes. I dread the day I have no input or guidance in my kid’s life. I realize that sounds controlling. I just want to see them become their best selves – of course that can’t happen with me hovering over their shoulders – I realize that. Ugh. It’s so hard.
 
I have 4 kids. I always joke the odds would imply at least ONE of those is going to go off the rails. Add in adoption with 2 of my kids being starved and mistreated at an early age, life in foster care, racial challenges, bad genes, innate personality differences, my own ineptitude as a parent. It’s such a crazy thing to role the dice on… raising a HUMAN.
 
This parenting thing shouldn’t be done by everyone. Hell, I’m not sure it should be done by ME. Every day I question what to do better or what have I already locked into their personalities by being a bitter, sarcastic, quick-to-anger dad.
 

Whew. This will be a tough watch indeed. Worse yet, what will I see in 20 years? What fruits will I have helped cultivate? Sweet? Bitter? Bland? Rotten?
